Our Goals
To provide educational resources, presentations, and material about the history and culture of the Abenaki homelands of the Northeast Kingdom to area students, classrooms, and schools of Orleans County. To establish Title VII Indian Education programs to benefit the Abenaki and other Native American students of the Orleans-Essex Northern Supervisory Union. To distribute food to local unemployed and poverty stricken families, and, through a partnership with AARP Vermont and Catamount Heathcare, insure that proper health care is provided these families, as well. To provide empowering resources and culturally appropriate advocacy to local unemployed and under employed. To provide and/or arrange transitional resources and culturally appropriate advocacy to victims of emergency and domestic violence. To promote positive awareness and acceptance of the rich Abenaki culture of Lake Memphremagog and the surrounding areas. To assist and educate in the revitalization of the nearly extinct Abenaki language. To participate, partner, and cooperate with agencies, organizations, and schools for the betterment of the communities we live in. |
