KWAI KWAI! GREETINGS!

The Nulhegan Band of Abenaki, located in and around Newport, VT on the shores of beautiful Lake Memphremagog works toward the attainment of self-sufficiency, sovereignty, cultural revival, and the betterment of life for the next seven generations of the Abenaki Nation. The continued development of essential tribal government programs, cultural awareness, economic development, and social justice are key to the self-sufficiency of Nulhegan’s community.

AHA, the non-profit organization created to obtain funding and administer tribal programs, is now in the process of acquiring the proper facilities to house its projects. Programs such as Title VII Indian Education, Food Shelf/Coop, Emergency Transitional Services, and Culturally Appropriate Advocacy will soon benefit the Nulhegan and surrounding communities.

Recently, the Abenaki communities of Nulhegan, Missisquoi, and Koasek joined in alliance to support the Abenaki Recognition efforts in Vermont’s capitol city of Montpelier. This alliance, a first in contemporary history, has opened the doors to limitless cooperative endeavors for the betterment of the Abenaki Nation. Nulhegan leadership will continue to address these and other political and social justice issues relating to indigenous rights and cultural revival.

Contact information will be available shortly.
